This Goby spends most of the day sifting the substrate through its mouth in search of food particles. It is a great reef fish with the exception that it may upset sessile invertebrates with its digging. Undergravel filters are not recommended with burrowing fish. |

The Yellowheaded Sleeper Goby (Valenciennea strigata) is sometimes called a Sleeper Gold Head Goby, a Golden Head Sleeper Goby, a Blueband Sleeper Goby, a Bluestreak Sleeper Goby, or a Pennant Glider Goby. It belongs to the family named Gobiidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 7.1 inches in length, the Yellowheaded Sleeper Goby is passive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the substrate. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Valenciennea strigata should not be housed in a tank less than 55 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include a deep substrate.
