notes
One of the most common and sought after fish for its bright color and typically hardy nature. There are differing opinions on where it is best to keep just one or a small group of these together. One thing is certain, introduce it at the same time as other Yellow Tangs, and be very cautious of mixing with other types of Tangs or Surgeonfish. This one can become very territorial and aggressive.
overview

The Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens) is sometimes called a Yellow Sailfin Tang or a Yellow Surgeonfish. It belongs to the family named Acanthuridae. Typically reaching a max size of about 8.0 inches in length, the Yellow Tang is semi-aggressive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Zebrasoma flavescens should not be housed in a tank less than 75 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area and plenty of hiding places.
