One of the smallest of all Angelfish. Even at its small size, this one is still not good for the reef tank. It will nip and irritate most corals and clams. This one can be kept in groups of one male to multiple females, if they are introduced at the same time. Provide plenty of hiding places. |

The Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish (Centropyge flavicauda) is sometimes called a Royal Blue Pygmy Angelfish, a Damsel Angelfish, or a Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish. It belongs to the family named Pomacanthidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 2.5 inches in length, the Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish is semi-aggressive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the middle tank area. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is good and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Centropyge flavicauda should not be housed in a tank less than 30 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include plenty of hiding places.
