notes
Beautiful specimen that does better with non-aggressive tankmates. In the right lighting, the male's color seems to glow. Keep only one male per tank.
overview

The Squarespot Anthias (Pseudanthias pleurotaenia) is sometimes called a Squareblock Anthias or a Squareback Anthias. It belongs to the family named Serranidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 8.0 inches in length, the Squarespot Anthias is generally passive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. Based on the particular specimen you acquire and its environment, the time when it is most active can fluctuate day or night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Pseudanthias pleurotaenia should not be housed in a tank less than 75 gallons in sizeand in general should have low (2 watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include plenty of hiding places.
