As long as ample hiding places are provided, this species can be housed in groups. But as with all dottybacks, caution should be taken. Be prepared to remove one or more of them if they begin fighting. |

The Sankey's Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi) belongs to the family named Pseudochromidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 3.0 inches in length, the Sankey's Dottyback is semi-aggressive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Pseudochromis sankeyi should not be housed in a tank less than 20 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area and plenty of hiding places.

Oceans Reefs and Aquariums an aquaculture company based in Florida has successfully bread the Sankey's Dottyback. According to their website http://www.orafarm.com/dottybacks.html Striped dottybacks will spawn about every 8-11 days and have large egg masses of up to 1,000 eggs. Typically they will hatch in 4-5 days and are larval for 24-28 days. ORA breeds the Striped Dottyback for wholesale. There have also been many unconfirmed claims of breeding by hobbyists as well.
