A wonderful addition to any reef tank. This goby, although small, will try to do its part in sifting the substrate, as well as grazing on pesky hair algae. It is not a threat to anything. Just simply a nice way of adding a little flair and help to your tank. |

The Rainford's Goby (Amblyeleotris rainfordi) is sometimes called an Old Glory Goby or a Court Jester Goby. It belongs to the family named Gobiidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 2.9 inches in length, the Rainford's Goby is passive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the lower tank area. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is good and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Amblyeleotris rainfordi should not be housed in a tank less than 30 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include plenty of hiding places.
