An absolutley beautiful creature, the Purple Nudibrach will make you think of something extraterrestrial before a slug. Occasionally you will find these for sale, but it is unfortunate. These will die in the home aquarium unless you are willing to supply it with sponges to eat. As of right now, there is no substitute for the real thing. So, they will slowly starve in captivity. Best left in wild. |

The Purple Nudibranch (Hypselodoris bullocki) is sometimes called a Purple Sea Goddess or a Purple Sea Slug. It belongs to the family named Chromodorididae. Typically reaching a max size of about 3.2 inches in length, the Purple Nudibranch is passive in nature and risky in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the rock structures. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include a well established aquarium and high water quality.
