These crabs get their name from their desire to pick up small anemones in their claws and walk around using them to ward off predators and mob around for some food. This is a hardy specimen and it's size makes it very well suited for a nano reef. |

The Pom Pom Crab (Lybia tessellata) is sometimes called a Boxer Crab. It belongs to the family named Xanthidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 1.0 inches in length, the Pom Pom Crab is passive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the evening hours or at night and less so during the day. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Lybia tessellata in general should have standard (3 watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include rockwork structure.
