One look and you can tell why this radiant beauty is very popular in the aquarium trade. Aside from its looks though, it has many positives. It is generally passive, very hardy, and does great in most reef tanks. There is still a threat to small passive tankmates, yet it is mostly territorial. Provide with plenty of hiding places and a large tank if you wish to keep in pairs or groups. |

The Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani) belongs to the family named Pseudochromidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 3.0 inches in length, the Orchid Dottyback is generally passive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Pseudochromis fridmani should not be housed in a tank less than 20 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include plenty of hiding places.
