The Moon Crab (Matuta lunaris) belongs to the family named Calappidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 4.0 inches in length, the Moon Crab is generally passive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the evening hours or at night and less so during the day. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unlikely and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Matuta lunaris should not be housed in a tank less than 20 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra substrate area and a deep substrate.
