notes
A puffer of many colors. Similar to the Blackspotted Puffer by the way it changes colors during its life. It starts as dark blue or black with white spots. Then in the middle phase it can become covered in yellow and black spotches. Finally, in last stage it will become solid yellow. Chances are it will remain in the stage as you aquire it, since it rarely changes in captivity.
overview

The Meleagris Puffer (Arothron meleagris) is sometimes called a Guinea Fowl Puffer, a Black and White Puffer, or a Golden Puffer. It belongs to the family named Tetraodontidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 20.0 inches in length, the Meleagris Puffer is generally passive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the evening hours or at night and less so during the day, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Arothron meleagris should not be housed in a tank less than 100 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area and a stable cave/sheltering ledge.
