notes
A stunning display of orange and blue stripes, but the most aggresive member of the Acanthurus genus. Will not tolerate other members of its family and any fish that displays the same shape or eating habits. Beware of its caudal spine, it is quite large and the Lined Surgeonfish has no problem using it. Keep it in extra large aquarium with proper current to keep oxygen levels high for this one.
overview

The Lined Surgeonfish (Acanthurus lineatus) is sometimes called a Clown Surgeonfish, a Lined Tang, or a Clown Tang. It belongs to the family named Acanthuridae. Typically reaching a max size of about 15.0 inches in length, the Lined Surgeonfish is aggressive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Acanthurus lineatus should not be housed in a tank less than 180 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area, a well established aquarium, and a strong water current.
