notes
Awesome looking Serpent Star, when you see it that is. Unfortunatly this one hides most of the time, but it is always hard at work for you. They are great scavengers and make a fine addition to your clean up crew. They also give that "Hey whats that?!?" factor for on-lookers when it decides to emerge from under a rock.
overview

The Harlequin Serpent Star (Ophioderma sp.) belongs to the family named Ophiodermatidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 6 inches in diameter, the Harlequin Serpent Star is passive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the rock structures. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Ophioderma sp. in general should have standard (3 watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include rockwork structure and plenty of hiding spaces.
