notes
It has no trouble settling into aquarium life. The Halfmoon can vary in color depending on sex and age. This color pattern can range from a brownish-black body to a slightly purplish-brown. They usually have a blue underbelly, but will always display white on the end of the tail and/or around the mouth. They are aggresive and territorial, so mix with caution.
overview

The Halfmoon Triggerfish (Sufflamen chrysopterus) is sometimes called a White Tip Triggerfish or a Whitetail Triggerfish. It belongs to the family named Balistidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 12.0 inches in length, the Halfmoon Triggerfish is aggressive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Sufflamen chrysopterus should not be housed in a tank less than 75 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area.
