notes
A graceful and sleek shark that is well suited for aquarium life if given a large enough environemnt to swim. As with most sharks, the greater swimming area you can provide the better. These sharks prefer cooler water tanks reaching 70 degrees at the high point. Temperatures above that can substantionally stress the shark and shorten its life. Similar to Mustelus henlei (Brown Smoothhound).
overview

The Grey Smoothhound Shark (Mustelus californicus) belongs to the family named Triakidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 46.0 inches in length, the Grey Smoothhound Shark is semi-aggressive in nature and hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out or do best in the lower tank area. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported. External sexual differences are limited to the fact that females live almost twice as long as males. Mustelus californicus should not be housed in a tank less than 1000+ gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 55 - 70 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area.
