Porties Corals, like Acroporas, can add a wonderful demension of color to you reef tank. Porties Corals are a bit hardier than Acroporas, given they have intense lighting, strong water current and occasional supplemental feedings.
They will extend polyps at times, giving it a slighty bushy or furry look, but they are peaceful and will not harm neighboring corals. |

The Green Porites Coral (Porites sp.) is sometimes called a Green Jeweled Finger Coral or a Green Branching Porties Coral. It belongs to the family named Poritidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 6 inches in diameter, the Green Porites Coral is passive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is good and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Porites sp. in general should have extra bright (5+ watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include a well established aquarium, high water quality, a strong water current, a moderate water current, and a fluctuating water current.
