notes
This eel exhibits behaviors typical to most Morays. Although it does not grow particularly large, it is a threat to anything it can fit into its mouth and usually has to be coaxed into eating when first introduced to the aquarium. There are solid "gold" or yellow variations of this particular eel, but are very rare and prized by many aquarists. So, expect to pay a high price for these beauties.
overview

The Goldentail Moray (Gymnothorax miliaris) is sometimes called a Golden Moray. It belongs to the family named Muraenidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 24.0 inches in length, the Goldentail Moray is generally passive in nature and hardy in stamina. Based on the particular specimen you acquire and its environment, the time when it is most active can fluctuate day or night, and will hang out or do best in the lower tank area. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Gymnothorax miliaris should not be housed in a tank less than 30 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include plenty of hiding places and a stable cave/sheltering ledge.
