A real attractive coral, which is unfortunatly a little more difficult to keep. The Flowerpot coral is very sensitive to water conditions and can be easily damaged. Providing the proper attention and care will reward you with a beautiful addition to your tank. Keep away from other corals, since the tentacles (24 on each polyp) can damage neighboring corals. |

The Flowerpot Coral (Goniopora Sp.) is sometimes called a Daisy Coral. It belongs to the family named Poritidae. The Flowerpot Coral is aggressive in nature and sensitive in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Goniopora Sp. in general should have standard (3 watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include high water quality, a strong water current, and a moderate water current.
