Finger Leathers are typically some variation of brown with white polyps. They are a relatively easy coral to care for in the home aquarium, but give them some room away from their neighbors. |

The Finger Leather (Sinularia sp.) is sometimes called a Finger Soft Coral, a Thin Sinularia Coral, or a Trough Corals. It belongs to the family named Alcyoniidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 10 inches in diameter, the Finger Leather is generally passive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is good and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Sinularia sp. should not be housed in a tank less than 55 gallons in sizeand in general should have bright (4 watts/gallon) light to thrive. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.4, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include a well established aquarium, high water quality, a moderate water current, a fluctuating water current, and rockwork structure.
