A relative to the Spiney Puffer, this porcupine fish is not so easy to keep. It tends to starve in alot of tanks because it simply won't eat. Best if introduced and acclimated as juveniles. Is known to harass bottom-dwelling tankmates and nip at long finned fish. Be prepared for Ich outbreaks and deworming is recommended from time to time. |

The Bridled Burrfish (Chilomycterus antillarum) belongs to the family named Diodontidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 10.0 inches in length, the Bridled Burrfish is semi-aggressive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. Based on the particular specimen you acquire and its environment, the time when it is most active can fluctuate day or night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Chilomycterus antillarum should not be housed in a tank less than 75 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area.
