While most Angels have vertical stripe patterns, this beauty has more horizontal markings. As are many Angelfish, the Blue Ring has a completely different coloration from juvenille to adult. Many juvennile Angelfish are blue with radiating white lines. This one is no different. However, its tail will be white or completely clear. This angel will be shy at first, but soon can become boisterous. |

The Blue Ring Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis) is sometimes called an Annularis Angelfish or a Blue King Angelfish. It belongs to the family named Pomacanthidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 11.9 inches in length, the Blue Ring Angelfish is semi-aggressive in nature and moderately hardy in stamina. It's more active during the daytime and less at night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is unreported and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Pomacanthus annularis should not be housed in a tank less than 75 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 8.1 - 8.3, temperature between 77 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, and a salinity between 1.020 - 1.023. Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area, plenty of hiding places, and a stable cave/sheltering ledge.
