Generally speaking, there are nine criteria that are used when naming a mutation or hybrid variation of Angelfish. Those are Albino, Black, Gold, Marble, Smokey, Zebra, Pearlscale, Stripeless and Veil. The First 6 are refering to color, Pearlscale and Stripeless are appearance and Veil refers to fin length. There may be any combination of these to name a particular specimen but the name itself does not mean that it is identical to another specimen of the same name. For example, a Black and Albino mix may be called a Half Black and you many see Silver Zebra or a Smokey Pearscale Angelfish. Names that step too far outside of these general guidelines should be questioned as the origin of the name. Some vendors may give their specimen a different name to indicate that it is unique and warrants further purchase consideration by everyone but may in fact not be unique.
