overview

The Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona) is sometimes called a Sumatra Barb. It belongs to the family named Cyprinidae. Typically reaching a max size of about 3.0 inches in length, the Tiger Barb is semi-aggressive in nature and hardy in stamina. Based on the particular specimen you acquire and its environment, the time when it is most active can fluctuate day or night, and will hang out across the entire tank. According to FishDB current data, captive breeding success is good after pairing up and there are no external signs of sexual differences. Puntius tetrazona should not be housed in a tank less than 30 gallons in size. Tank parameters should be maintained with ph level between 6.0 - 7.0, temperature between 74 - 79 degrees fahrenheit, Some of the environmental concerns that you should strive to replicate in your home aquaria to promote succesful acclimation include extra swimming area, keep 3 or more, and planted aquarium.
